This is a quick guide to Snow Leopards, as you will need to learn if you wish to role-play correctly on this site. Please take the time to read some, if not all, of the information listed below.
SCIENTIFIC NAME
Panthera Uncia
LIFESPAN
Anywhere from 15 to 18 years.
HABITAT
Snow leopards inhabit mountains all along central Asia, and several farther west countries in Europe and North-East Africa; covering an area of about 1,242,742 square miles (2 million kilometers). They live in the frigid temperatures of high mountains, with thin air and scarce prey. They are adapted to high ridges and cliffs, valleys and are capable of traveling very long distances during the night to reach their destinations.
OVERALL BEHAVIOR
They are very independent cats, aside from mothers raising cubs. They mate in late winter, and the cubs are born around spring time where they stay with the mother for about 18-22 months before they become independent. The males mate with the female, and then go on their way. They are very active a dawn and dusk, and are usually resting during the hours in between.
PREY
They mainly prey in blue sheep [wild sheep], wild goats, and smaller prey like hares, and the occasional large bird.
APPEARANCE
They are a medium sized 'big cat', smaller than their relative leopards. They weigh between 60-120 pounds (27-54 kilograms), and, without the tail, they can be 39-51 inches (99-130 centimeters) long. The tails however, can be as long or even longer than their body! Snow leopards generally have thick, smoky gray fur with darker gray and white markings, where they can blend into the mountain surroundings better.
